The biggest Folk Festival in Larissa
The “Cultural Meeting in Larissa” Folk Festival was firstly introduced in August 2016 the initiator and creator of which was the traditional dance teacher of the host Cultural Associations, Mr. Sotiris Karavassilis.
The festival is held annually, in the last week of August attracting a remarkable number of visitors and it is organized by the Cultural Associations of “Pyrgetos”, “Sikourio”, and “Chalki”.
Cultural Association of Chalki
Chalki is one of the villages in the plain of Thessaly in the southeast of the city of Larissa at an altitude of 81m. Its population is 1,862 inhabitants with agriculture being the main occupation of the area.The Cultural Association of Chalki was founded in 1984 and throughout its course, it promotes our tradition and its main concern is to preserve its local cultural heritage.
Ever since its foundation, the Cultural Association of Chalki has displayed rich social work and its objective has not only been to raise the cultural awareness and level of our village but also to develop the feeling of team spirit and voluntary work as well as to conduct researches on issues of cultural interest.
Cultural Association of Pyrgetos
Our village, Pyrgetos, is located in central Greece near the city of Larissa, region of Thessaly, Tempe Valley. The Cultural Association of Pyrgetos was established in 1979 by a group of people eager to promote the unique cultural heritage of our region having as the main objective to preserve and promote our tradition and local customs.
The traditional dance group was created in 1985 and in February 1988, it was named after the great clarinist “Vaios Malliaras” who came from our village
Cultural Association of Sykourio
The Cultural Association of Sikourio is located in the village of Sykourio and was founded in 1975. The main purpose of the Association is the preservation and promotion of customs and traditions and the contribution to the culture and entertainment of the inhabitants of the wider region of Sikourio.
The Association is engaged in a wide range of events - such as lectures, excursions, music and dance performances, concerts, art exhibitions, etc.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The programme followed by all the participant dancing groups includes a guided tour of the city of Larissa, visits of the City Hall, The Region of Thessaly, the offices of the Journalistic Organization “Eleftheria” andthe Ethnographical Historical Museum of Larissa. Participant groups also get to visit the beaches in the coastline of the prefecture of Larissa and of course participate in parades and performances in Larissa, Pyrgetos, Sikourio and Chalki.

Our logo is composed of the colours yellow and orange and a circle; colours and patterns
symbolizing the key elements characterizing our Greek tradition and culture.
Moreover, the logo has the shape of the ancient theater, the most popular landmark of the city of Larissa, preserving in this way the ancient Greek spirit.
